A meme, the dream vehicle for an ad message

An article in Ad Age covers the novel concept of a Internet memes which they define as follows: a meme "at its simplest refers to any cultural information transmitted from one mind to another".
"Flickr celebrates 'Oral Pixation Day' by encouraging its members to upload photos that are in some way related to their mouths"

I had read yesterday in the French business magazine 'Enjeux Les Echos' an interview with Susan Blackmore about how memes are an important defining factor in human evolution. The Ad Age article is about a slightly more down to earth discussion of memes, since they talk about how "Flickr celebrates 'Oral Pixation Day' by encouraging its members to upload photos that are in some way related to their mouths". One of the first things that comes to mind when reading this is viral marketing of course.

Article Title: Can you think of the next "meme"
An example of a well known meme, is the Budweiser campaign "Whassup?", which is also cited in the above Ad Age article. I can remember a few years ago when everybody was sending each other the latest version of the Bud campaigns by email.
Recently, I was showing the 'alien' version of the Bud campaign, to my sister and friend, where a spy alien disguised as a dog takes the "Whassup?" message back to his home planet. You can view the video from the links at the end of this article.
My sister's friend works in a bank in France. He knew about the Whassup campaign, and immediately associated it with Budweiser, but not this specific ad. He recalled it as being a 'call between friends, drinking a beer' concept. Which is not bad for a summary So I think the campaign has done pretty well crossing continents and overcoming the language barrier. Obviously the beauty is in the simplicity of the message. Err, fun advert, but, what message, you may say !?

Having worked on online marketing campaigns in ad companies I can assure you that being the creator of a meme is like the holy grail for most of us. Being popular isn't always synonymous with quality but a meme is a meme. So do you think you can come up with the next meme everybody will be talking about ?
